Dr. James Jelinek graduated from Ohio University in 1979 with a degree in zoology and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1983. He then completed a general practice residency in the U.S. Army and continued honing his specialty skills by completing an implant externship at Bowman Gray Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Jelinek has a certificate in Straight Wire Orthodontic Studies and is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Susan Yung has been honing her love and skill in dentistry for nearly half a century and has been part of the team at Drs. Yung & Jelinek since 1988. After graduating from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in education and an RDH degree in dental hygiene, she spent seven years working as a dental hygienist before deciding to become a dentist. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1983.
As the son of Dr. James Jelinek, Dr. Drew has been around the practice his entire life, officially joining as a certified dentist in April 2020. Dr. Drew earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the VCU School of Dentistry in Richmond, VA. During his time there, he tutored first-year dental students in multiple classes and was a teaching assistant for the clinical skills of second-year students. He also was a coordinator of the Mission of Mercy projects, which provide free dental care to underserved areas across Virginia.
Following dental school, Dr. Drew worked as a resident at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Birmingham, AL. His main focus there was surgical procedures and dental implants.

Dr. Drew Jelniek, Cheri and the office staff are so amazing. So gentle kind consider all your comforts. They explain everything to you. They don’t “sell” unnecessary dental work. Efficient and prompt. They make going to a dentist a pleasant experience. Highly recommend them.
